In this guide, you’ll learn how to manage message requests effectively on Facebook Messenger without the need for direct replies.
Can You Accept Message Requests on Messenger WIthout Replying?
You can’t accept a message request on Messenger without replying. Messenger no longer offers the feature to accept or reject message requests.
Previously, you could accept to move it to your inbox or reject to delete it. Now, when you receive a message request, it lands in your message request section.
You can read it without notifying the sender and choose to reply, block, or delete it. Replying moves the conversation to your main inbox while deleting removes it entirely.
Blocking prevents further contact with that person. There’s no way to move a message from the message request section to the main inbox without replying.
How to Accept Message Requests Without Replying to Messenger
Currently, you can’t accept a message request on Messenger without replying. The option to accept or reject requests no longer exists.
When you get a message from someone you’re not connected with, it lands in your message request section. From there, you can reply, block, or delete the message.
Replying to a message moves it to your inbox. If you read the message but don’t reply, it remains in your message requests, unseen by the sender.
To ensure messages from people you’re not connected with go straight to your main inbox.
- Log into Facebook.
- Click your profile picture > Settings & Privacy.
- In Settings, go to Privacy.
- Find How you get message requests.
- Select your preference: People with your phone number, Friends of friends, Authors on Facebook, or Accounts on Instagram.
- Click Edit next to your choice and select Chats instead of Message Request.
This adjustment ensures messages from unknown or unconnected users land directly in your main inbox. Replying to a message request enables communication and media sharing with the sender.
