Halloween is a time for fun and creativity, and there’s no reason why pregnant women should miss out on the festivities.
With a little planning, you can find a comfortable and stylish costume that will make you feel great.
Here are some ideas for safe and stylish pregnant Halloween costumes:
Spadehill Jack o’ Lantern Costume
If you’re not feeling up to go all out, throw on this comfy, ruched Jack o’ lantern maternity t-shirt. You can go for the classic orange, or get a spooky black version.
For G and PL Pregnant Skeleton Costume
Think of this one as another ultrasound photo, only with a spooky twist. And to up the comfort factor, you can wear this look with sneakers (especially if you have black Converse).
Cat With Yarn Costume
Create your own spin on the classic cat costume by adding a “ball of yarn” to your baby bump. Start by looping the yarn over and over into several loops — don’t worry about it being perfect, the idea is for it to be messy.
Then pin the ends of the loops onto your shirt to create a “ball” effect, and let the rest of the yarn spill out for you to play with.
Lady Bug and Daddy Long Legs
Not much is needed to pull off this cute Lady Bug look. Just dress yourself in all black, formfitting pieces to show off your bump, then throw on a red poncho and rain boots. Leave the poncho open and add on black dots for the full look.
Lumberjacks Costume
If you’re looking for a couple’s costume, you can go as a pair of burly lumberjacks. The great thing about this outfit is that you can probably put it together with items you already have in your closet (and it’s pretty comfortable to wear).
Bop It Costume
The woman in this photo is not actually pregnant — she’s using a styrofoam sphere for that bump. But with a few modifications, you can bring back this ’90s toy classic for your maternity costume. Just make sure other Halloween revelers do not, in fact, bop it.
Midge Costume
Hi, Barbie! Fans of the Barbie movie have already been reminded of Midge, the “pregnant” doll who came with a baby inside a magnetic, removable belly. To recreate Midge’s signature maternity look, you need a floral dress with a purple ribbon and a long wig with two braids — purple jelly wedge heels optional.
(You are pregnant after all, and those do not look comfortable.) And, if you want to make it a family or group costume, you’ll be tickled to know that Midge sometimes came packaged with Allan (shown here in an easy-to-find blue flannel).
Bun in the Oven Costume
You can DIY this punny costume out of a cardboard box and make it a “boxtume,” or you can buy the whole thing outright. Then, if you also want to make it a couple’s costume, you can bring the baker along with you. Either way, that bun is cooking!
Pearl and Shell Costume
You can fulfill all your enchanted-under-the-sea dreams with this costume, where your bump stars as a precious pearl. You can re-use the foam board clamshell if you ever want to be Venus, too.
Peas in a Pod Costume
The base of this costume is just a bright green tank top (or t-shirt, or long-sleeve shirt, depending on the weather in your area). You can have a lot of fun creating different facial expressions for each of the”peas” in this pod, too.

Winnie the Pooh Costume
This is the costume that’ll won’t have you saying, “Oh, bother.” You don’t even need any “hunny” to make it.
Ursula Costume
On the heels of Disney’s The Little Mermaid remake, fans can easily recreate this Ursula costume with a maxi dress, wig and body paint. Just note that, if you attempt it, you can’t forget the importance of … body language.

Thor Costume
Thor may have gotten his godly figure back for Thor: Love and Thunder, but if you’re looking to dress as one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes while you’re pregnant, the gone-to-seed version of Thor from Avengers: Endgame is a good match for a big belly.
Avocado Costume
To craft an avocado where your belly is the pit, simply trace the shape on a large piece of presentation board and then cut out a hole for your tummy. Then, paint it with different shades of green. Attach straps to the back to slide your arms through, and then wear a brown shirt underneath.
Marge Gunderson From ‘Fargo’ Costume
Oh yeah, if you’re looking for a costume that’ll keep you toasty warm, this Fargo star is it. The hat with ear flaps is most important, and then you can pull together a uniform to wear under your puffy coat.
Pasta Sauce Costume
When you’re preggo, go as a jar of Prego! Bonus if you can get a partner or a buddy to go as spaghetti.

Ice Cream Sundae Costume
There’s no sweeter costume than this. And while the dress with the sprinkles and the chocolate sauce is cute and clever, the hat literally is the cherry on top.
The “Babydook” Costume
The Babadook is basically a movie about the horrors of parenthood anyway. Lean into your newfound status by dressing up as a “Mamadook,” “Babadook” and “Babydook,” which is somehow both scary and hilarious.
Milkman and Housewife Costume
Sure, there’s some old-fashioned innuendo behind this costume, but it does give you a good excuse to break out your pearls and vintage-style dresses. It’s definitely an easy one to DIY at the last minute.
“Here Comes Trouble” Costume
The shape of the “Pop-o-Matic” Trouble bubble is a perfect match for a pregnant Halloween costume. Just make sure that no one actually tries to press it.
Magic 8 Ball Costume
This mother-to-be actually made a Magic 8-Ball costume that gives responses to questions! How’d she do it? Ask again later (or click the link below).
Angry Bird Costume
The iconic app is perfect for Halloween inspo. Plus, if you’ve got a big family or friends who’d be game, you can all dress up as different bird and pig characters.
Disco Ball
You’re always the life of the party — just like a disco ball! In addition to the sparkly belly, this mom-to-be also used rhinestone stickers to embellish her face.
Death Star Costume
This is the costume you’re looking for. While you can be the Death Star on your own, if you round up a Vader and a Jedi or two, you can also be part of a Star Wars family costume.
Good Luck Troll Costume
Lindsay Boreing from the country-pop band Chasing Ivy used a bike reflector for the bellybutton jewel in this troll costume. Definitely a sign of good luck!
Snowman Costume
Do you want to build (or be) a snowman? Wear this for Halloween — especially if you have a little one going as Elsa — and then you can re-use it for holiday photos.
Wilson Costume
Castaway was a solo movie, but this costume is a couples’ affair. The dad-to-be did the belly-painting in addition to dressing as Tom Hanks’ character.
Gumball Machine Costume
Gumball machines are actually popular Halloween costumes for people of all ages (probably because it’s so much fun gluing pom-pom balls or felt circles onto a shirt). But when you’re pregnant, this costume really takes the cake!

Rainbow & Pot of Gold Costume
St. Patrick’s Day isn’t the only time of year to celebrate the luck of the Irish — turn your belly into a pot of gold that people can rub for a wee bit o’ luck.
“Mummy” Costume
If you want to celebrate the fact that you’re going to be a “mummy,” you might want to try DIY-ing a pair of eyes peeking out from a mummy costume — or just buy this dress. Jessica Simpson did something similar as a pregnancy announcement in 2011.
Violet Beauregarde Costume
Angela Scheiderich of Harlow Bliss photography went all out for her Willy Wonka-inspired blew-up-into-a-blueberry look, but you can probably achieve a similar effect with your favorite purple maternity dress and some face paint. Then, hope someone gives you a Wonka bar when you’re trick-or-treating.
Mama Bird Costume
Being a protective mama bird is only natural, so this costume, where your belly is disguised as an egg, is especially adorable.
Andre Agassi & Tennis Ball Costume
It’ll be love-love in this tennis-themed couple’s costume this Halloween. An inexpensive black dress with a hole cut out in the middle to show off a tennis ball (or neon yellow tube skirt) is the secret to this ballin’ look.
Juno and Paulie Costumes
Juno might have been in theaters more than 15 years ago, but it’s still beloved enough that your friends and family will get a major kick (no pun intended) out of this couples costume. Paulie’s “Dancing Elk Condors” tee is easily findable online.
Curvy Lady Costume
Don’t be afraid to show off those curves that come from having a kid! All you need is a form-fitting black top and bottom, a construction board and a little paint.

Another fun sports pick! And why not dress up your partner as a ref, making it an incredibly easy couples costume to throw together.
Fish Bowl Costume
This fun DIY costume is bound to delight everyone who sees it. Pop Nemo “inside” the bowl for an extra creative touch.
Angel Costume
Perfect for the mom-to-be with an irreverent sense of humor, this costume is good reminder that nobody’s perfect.
Emoji Costume
The best part of these emoji costumes is that they’re fully customizable depending on your favorite face (or your current mood). But heart-eyes are always a great option!
