In this guide, we will discuss a few methods to prevent hacking of Instagram.
Two-factor authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides an extra layer of security on your social media accounts.
You can enable two-factor authentication on your Instagram account. It protects your account by requiring a login code when you login in on a device we don’t recognize.
Follow the below steps to enable Two-factor authentication (2FA) on your Instagram account.
Locate the “Instagram” app on your phone.
Open the app.
Here you have to login into your Instagram account using the “Phone number/email/Username” and “Password”.
After logging into your “Instagram” account using the “Phone number/email/Username” and “Password”, now you will land on your Instagram home page.
Here you have to click on the profile icon at the bottom right of the page.
Now you will land on your profile page.
Tap on the hamburger icon at the top right of the page.
Here you will see a few options. This includes “Archive”, “Your activity”, “Saved”, and more. Select the “Settings” option.
After you have selected “Settings”, you’ll land on the settings page.
On the settings page, you’ll see multiple options.
This includes “Privacy”, “Account”, “About”, and more.
Here tap on the “Security” option to go to your security settings.
Select the “Two-factor authentication” option.
After selecting the “Two-factor authentication”, click on the “Get started” button to add extra security to your account.
Now you will land on the “Two-factor Authentication” page.
Here you have to choose the security method that you want Instagram to send security codes.
The security methods are “Authentication App”, “Whatsapp”, and “Text message”.
After selecting a security method, follow the on-screen instruction to set up the Two-factor authentication.
Note: Instagram will recommend an authentication app. For enabling the “Authentication App”, you have to download the recommended authentication app or you can set it up manually. For enabling the “Whatsapp” security method, first, you have to enable “Text message” and then Instagram will send a login code to your WhatsApp. By enabling “Text message”, you will get a login code to the mobile number you choose.
